Greetings, I am Dr. Mauri Collins
Birthday 2010
My 66th birthday this year came at the end of an extended celebration. The celebration started in mid-March with the news of the sudden “retirement” of the now ex-Director of Distance Education from UNLV. It was a blessing and heart-healing to watch Karma so thoroughly at work.
At the end of March I spent a week-long visit at my son’s house on Maui - there are three albums of pictures on my Facebook page. I met my grand-daughter Sara and her adoptive mom, Nicki - wonderful additions to my rather sprawling family.
Next, my SweetP spent three days here in Las Vegas with me - he weighs less and looks younger than he did when we met 6 years ago - no fair!
My sister Sarah arranged a birthday party for me at Red Lobster, attended by my three daughters, Sarah, Krys and Norah, our friend, Annie, Krys’ daughter Holly, and my sister Sarah, her son, Tommy, and my mother, Norah Collins. Here we are at my mother’s house for the cake-cutting.
Over my birthday weekend my Mom and I were VIP guests at the Las Vegas Celtic festival - beautiful weather and excellent entertainment. I know my great grandfather was born in Balleymoney Co. Antrim - and my grandmother was born in Dumbarton, Scotland, but I am afraid they were one generation stops in our family’s nomadic existence over the past 100 years.
